It was actually back in 1992 when NOSFERATU gained first attention outside the UK. Their contribution to the vinyl version of ‘Gothic Rock’ “Dark Angel” became an instant classic - and came perfectly in a time where the bands of the first Gothic generation faded away or had serious problems with their own identification.
And then - NOSFERATU - out of the blue and from a country whose music press was more busy with creating a new hype per week (and bury it a week later) than taking care about music at all.
The three piece with Louis De Wray as vocalist, Damien De Ville as guitarist and Vlad Janicek on bass did not just perform an almost classical version of Gothic, they also started the second generation of Goth Bands - not only in the UK, but all over Europe.
Their debut album “Rise” excited the scene, NOSFERATU became a kinda household name and reached massive sales that were really uncommon for that genre.
Unfortunately the huge success left its scars, Louis left the band - and their fans had to get used to some new vocalists, which wasn’t too bad, as main songwriter Damien kept his vision and most important - his quality!
But nothing remains forever, and in 2005 Louis rejoined the band and they released their current single (and Ramones cover) “Somebody Put Something In My Drink”.
This double CD (for the price of a single album) covers their entire musical career from the early days up to now - and is actually the first Best Of available as domestic european pressing.
Not much left to ask for!
