The
sixth album from this Greek act is both strong and dark, and has
been heralded by the Greek press as
-
“the
best of their genre.”
Formed in 1990 by guitarist/vocalist George Dedes, THE ILLUSION
FADES released their first single ‘Valentine’ in 1993,
-
which
acted as a springboard for five studio albums in the years that
followed. On the live from the band was likewise anything but
idle,
-
and
extensive tours through southeastern Europe with acts such as
the THE GUN CLUB served to increase their popularity.
-
The
band’s big break came in 2003 with the album In Black, which
was dubbed by Metal Hammer Greece as Album Of The Month!
-
With The Killing Ages THE ILLUSION FADES is primed and ready to
take the rest of Europe by storm.
-
The
first undeniable sign of things to come surfaced in 2007 at the
annual Wave Gotik Treffen, when the band shook the
-
foundations
of the Agra-Halle. Heavy guitars, rumbling bass, and George’s
charismatic and intense live presence pierced the blanket
-
of
dry ice that threatened to overpower the stage, gripping the audience
and making the band’s usually reserved label boss
-
wish
he’s brought a blank recording contract with him. This single
show opened new doors for THE ILLUSION FADES, resulting
-
tour
invitations from celebrated acts such as ELUSIVE, PROFUNDERE,
STAR INDUSTRY, THE DAMNED and LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT.
-
The time is ripe and ready for the follow-up to the 2006 outing,
Psycho Burns, resulting in The Killing Ages.
-
Dark
and atmospheric, the album is comparable to works from THE 69
EYES and early TYPE O NEGATIVE,
-
but
given THE ILLUSION FADES’ collective self-confidence and
unique style those comparisons are hardly necessary.
-
Guest
vocalists Jan Barkved (ELUSIVE) and Tristessa (ASTARTE) only serve
to add to an already intense listening experience.
-
“The Killing Ages” – an album of impressive,
epic tracks that draw you in and hold your attention
-
from
the opening note to the last. An album that speaks volumes of
the band’s experience as studio musicians, live performers,
and songwriters.
